You will want to edit the .css file (css=Cascading Style Sheet). It has definitions for the style of all of the site's parts (fonts, colors, etc.)
I like webmonkey, they're fun, they have an area for beginners to check out and their info is well done: http://www.webmonkey.com/

I really like their HTML cheat sheet:

10 Minute Guide to HTML: http://www.w3.org/MarkUp/Guide/

HTML with Style: http://www.webreference.com/html/tutoria

Learning HTML by using examples: http://www.cs.tut.fi/~jkorpela/HTML3.2/

For web page design and html: http://www.htmlhelp.com/

FYI: Some of the intro info on HTML does not contain the latest ins and outs of HTML...many people use CSS for formatting text and HTML to just ';place'; the text on the web page. But HTML is the place to start...then you'll be ready for Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and you'll learn about more ways to format stuff than you can shake a stick at!

Good luck!
hey im a pro at web design and i can do all the html and **** but i still use dreamweaver i recomend u do the same it can do copy and paste and if you dunno how to do something you can still use the code add me on yahoo messenger if you have anymore questions
if you download and use Web Page Maker V2, this is a small but very good programme, lets you put images text exactly where you want them, literally wysiwyg, it also has an option to insert code etc....

once you add your pages, all you do is click on the add menu, choose your style/button types and it links all the pages to the buttons. then once you have done, you export to html and then upload through your ftp
